EMERGENCY MEDICINE PHYSICIANS
Consider joining a well-established group of ED Physicians in Kitchener-Waterloo, one of Ontario’s fastest growing regions!
Kitchener-Waterloo is a vibrant city of approx. 550,000, ideally located an 1hr from Toronto, London and 45 min from Hamilton. It has strong economy driven by technology sector, 2 universities (Wilfred Laurier & University of Waterloo) and lots of recreation and leisure opportunities.
We are looking for full-time emergency physicians to join our collegial group, which covers two busy Emergency Departments.
St. Mary’s General Hospital (SMGH) ED sees approximately 170 patients/day and is the regional cardiac and respirology center with 24-hr PCI capability and cardio-thoracic surgery, in addition to other specialty services.
Grand River Hospital (GRH) ED sees approximately 190 patients/day and is the regional trauma, stroke, oncology and renal center in addition to many other specialty services.
Both departments are affiliated with the McMaster Medical School and have a consistent stream of medical students and residents, including CCFP(EM). We see a broad mix of patients, including dialysis, oncology and trauma with excellent backup from essentially all specialties except neurosurgery.
The department is quite busy and we usually have to keep moving during our shifts, but that keeps things interesting! The group tends to be a “work hard play hard” group that gets along better than most and we have a very active business team that keeps a close eye on the bottom line.
If you want to live in a great city and work in a busy community hospital with teaching opportunities, consider taking a tour of Kitchener-Waterloo!
